Our continuing education faculty of lecturers spans the wellness and medical arenas. From anatomists to orthopedic surgeons, our comprehensive team of experts provides integrative, cutting-edge knowledge to movement professionals. Debbi Goodman, MSPT
Debbi Goodman is a licensed manual physical therapist with specialties in women’s health, dance medicine, and sports medicine. She has been a physical therapist for Westside Dance Physical Therapy, New York City Ballet, School of American Ballet, and the Kane School. Debbi has had a private women’s health/orthopedic practice in New York City, and since moving to the Albany area in 2004, she has developed a private practice in the Capital District. Debbi is one of the few physical therapists trained in internal evaluation and treatment of the pelvic floor muscles. In addition, she is specifically skilled in treatment of pregnancy problems including: sciatica, back/neck pain, pelvic pain, and rib pain, and postpartum problems including: cesarean section recovery, urinary incontinence, pelvic/vaginal pain, and post-delivery scars. Debbi also teaches multiple continuing education workshops for physical therapists, trainers, and Pilates instructors focusing on educating professionals on exercise during pregnancy, and she is an instructor for prenatal and postpartum group fitness classes. Mark Klion, MD
Mark Klion is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon with specialty training in sports medicine. After receiving a Bachelors degree from St. Lawrence University, he went on to obtain both his medical degree and residency training from The Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Hospital, respectively. He completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Chicago, specializing in arthroscopic surgery and reconstructive knee and shoulder surgery. Dr. Klion is a clinical instructor at Mount Sinai and is an active member of the shoulder and sports medicine service. Dr. Klion performs the newest techniques for knee ligament reconstruction, cartilage repair, regeneration, and meniscal transplantation. Dr. Klion is the co-creator of BodyWorksMD, a DVD series of practical, on-the-go physical therapy programs. His outside interests in training have led him to complete six marathons and three iron man triathlons, including Hawaii Iron Man 2000. Joy Reidenberg, PhD
Joy S. Reidenberg is an Associate Professor of Anatomy and Functional Morphology at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Reidenberg received a BA in 1983 from Cornell University's College of Arts and Sciences. She earned her M.Phil. in 1985 and her Ph.D. in 1988 in Anatomy from Mount Sinai's Graduate Program in Biomedical Sciences, and joined the faculty later that year. Dr. Reidenberg studies the comparative anatomy of the mammalian head and neck, and has examined a variety of animals ranging from mice to humans. Her particular fascination is with whales, especially in understanding how they produce sounds. Teaching is a passion for Dr. Reidenberg, and her energies in this regard have made her one of our most respected educators. The American Association of Anatomists recently honored her for her excellence in teaching and research. Rebekah Rotstein
Osteoporosis expert Rebekah Rotstein is a Pilates and movement educator who teaches seminars and guest presents throughout the country and internationally. Her education began in the sports medicine department of Smith College working as a student athletic trainer after chronic injuries ended her ballet career. She trained at the Kane School where she later joined the teacher training faculty, leading courses in Special Populations and serving as a senior expert Instructor. She specializes in post-rehabilitation and furthers her education through ongoing coursework including yearly human cadaver dissection. Rebekah’s own diagnosis of osteoporosis at age 28 fueled her personal and professional pursuit of information on the subject. She is the creator of Pilates for Buff Bones® and an ambassador for the Foundation for Osteoporosis Research and Education. She is also a partner of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in its Office of Women's Health to promote its Best Bones Forever!™ campaign to young girls. Rebekah is a contributing expert for the website of Dr. Andrew Weil (www.drweil.com) and is frequently interviewed in various media including CNN, SELF Magazine and Martha Stewart Living Radio. Kriota Willberg
Described by one of her students as “lots of fun and freakishly knowledgeable,” Kriota Willberg teaches anatomy in the dance department of Marymount Manhattan College, pathology and massage at the Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences, has taught at Bard College and NYU, and teaches anatomy and injury prevention classes at Kinected and the Kane School, Jivamukti Yoga School, and for training programs for yoga and Pilates in New York City and nationally. Kriota’s 20-year career in massage focused on therapeutic, sports massage, and injury rehabilitation working with everyone from patients with hip replacements to the New York Giants football team. Along with her Pilates and yoga practices and decades in dance, she has studied personal training and exercise, is an anatomical illustration hobbyist (teaching anatomy for cartoonists at the Center for Cartoon Studies), and is a choreographer/filmmaker. kinected Instructors on our continuing education faculty:
