Despite such overarching admiration, however, we abuse and generally take it for granted! In this workshop you will learn the inner blueprint of the structure of the foot. Additionally, you will gain insight into how to create a unique program that will assist in the improvement of the overall function of the body based on a happy, realigned foundation. Kelly Kane Kelly Kane is a world-renowned Pilates educator with over 15 years of experience. Seeking to incorporate an understanding of the human body into the classical Pilates genre, Kelly opened the Kane School in 1999 as a holistic body college founded on anatomical knowledge to improve strength and stability. She initially studied with Romana Kryzanowska and Hila Paldi and obtained her certification through the Pilates Institute in Santa Fe, N.M. Kelly completed two years of the BodyMind Centering teacher-training program and received her massage certification at the Florida School of Massage. Her manual therapy repertoire includes Structural Integration, CranioSacral Therapy and Visceral Manipulation, and she cultivated her exceptional manual perception skills at the New Jersey School of Medicine and Dentistry. Since 1993, Kelly has studied Iyengar yoga as well as anatomy and postural assessment with neuro-muscular movement specialist Irene Dowd, and her expertise also includes GYROTONIC® and Continuum Movement. date: 1/23/10 and 1/24/10 time: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM cost: $350; cecs: Kane School = 12 hours Expand your exercise repertoire with Choreography Intensives, a new series of Continuing Education courses offered at Kinected. This workshop, focused on intermediate and advanced chair choreography, provides an in-depth exploration of challenging exercises for your intermediate to high-level clients. During this two-day course participants will learn choreography, cueing techniques and various modifications, as well as specific teaching tips to improve practical application of the material to client scenarios. Be prepared to move--this challenging workshop will also include self practice and partner teaching, providing your own body with a great weekend workout. Discover the facts about bone health. Find out which exercises to avoid or modify to safely work with clients of all levels encountering bone loss. Learn critical bone-strengthening techniques and creative methods of strengthening the abs without spinal flexion. Identify the best ways to improve posture and balance, avoid fractures and empower your clients. Exercises will center on the Pilates equipment but all movement instructors and physical therapists are welcome. Attendees will receive a complete manual including articles and reference material. Rebekah Rotstein Osteoporosis expert Rebekah Rotstein is a New York City-based Pilates instructor who integrates functional anatomy and biomechanics principles into mind-body exercise. Her education began in the sports medicine department of Smith College working as a student athletic trainer after chronic injuries ended her ballet career. She trained at the Kane School in New York where she later joined the teacher training faculty, leading courses in Special Populations and serving as a senior expert Instructor. She specializes in post-injury recovery and furthers her education through ongoing coursework including yearly human cadaver dissection. Rebekah’s own diagnosis of osteoporosis at age 28 fueled her personal and professional pursuit of information on the subject. She was interviewed by NY1 about her techniques and also published a paper on osteoporosis through Hatherleigh Publications for physical therapists and fitness professionals. Rebekah is the founder of Incorporating Movement, through which she is hired to educate Pilates instructors and other movement specialists, physical therapists and personal trainers, offering seminars and continuing education workshops in the U.S and abroad. Rebekah is also a contributing writer to the web site of Dr. Andrew Weil (drweil.com) and is on the advisory board of Will Power and Fitness Associates (willpowermatrix.com). |
