Where will the course be held?
The course will be held at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine (MSSM) located in the Annenberg Building of the Mount Sinai Medical Center. The medical center campus stretches between 98th Street and 102nd Street, between Madison and Fifth Avenues on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Please enter the Medical Center through the large revolving glass doors at the Madison Avenue entrance at 100th Street, and walk up the stairs located on the left side of the lobby. What time should I arrive on the first day of the course?
Check-in for the course will be held from 8:30 am – 9:30 am. What time will the course start each day? A complimentary assortment of bagels, tea, & coffee will be provided each day at 9:00 am. Course activities will begin at 9:30 am. What time will the course end each day? The course will conclude at approximately 5:00 pm each day. How much time is allotted for lunch each day? There will be approximately one hour for lunch each day; for your convenience, we will distribute a list of popular options located nearby Mount Sinai.
Who will be teaching during the FAMI Workshop?
Lectures and presentations will be lead by various members of the FAMI Workshop faculty. Please see the Faculty section of our website for more detail. What topics will be covered during the lectures? Should I be concerned about my anatomy knowledge? What materials will be provided during the course? Please bring pens and paper for note-taking. If you wish to take notes during the Gross Anatomy laboratory sessions, we recommend bringing a clipboard. It is also highly recommended to bring your own anatomy atlas or text with you to use as a reference throughout the course. Although you may use any reference material you wish, we recommend one of the following: • Gray’s Atlas of Human Anatomy by Richard Drake, Wayne Vogl, Adam Mitchell, Richard Tibbitts, & Paul Richardson • Atlas of Human Anatomy by Frank H, Netter, MD • Illustrated Essentials of Musculoskeletal Anatomy by Kay W. Sieg, PhD and Sandra P. Adams, PhD Will there be a place for me store my belongings during the course? If needed, you will be able to place your valuable belongings in a secure place during the course. Space is limited, however, and we cannot be responsible for any lost or stolen items, so we ask that you please plan accordingly.
Do I need any special clothing attire?
We recommend wearing or bringing comfortable clothing and close-toed shoes with you. In addition, we will provide latex and non-latex gloves. Please keep in mind that the temperature in the lab is on the cooler side. What can I bring into the Gross Anatomy Lab? Can I take pictures? What is a prosection? There will be no dissection of cadavers occurring during the workshop. Rather, instructors will use prosections for teaching purposes. How can I get CECs for the FAMI Workshop?
Participants of the FAMI Workshop are eligible to earn CECs from the American Council on Exercise (2.2), the National Academy of Sports Medicine (1.9), the Pilates Method Alliance (24), and STOTT PILATES® (0.2). At the end of the course, participants will receive a certificate of completion containing all pertinent information needed to receive these CEC credits. If you wish to receive CECs from another accrediting organization, you may be able to submit a petition. Please contact your respective CEC provider for specific petition requirements, and we will be happy to provide any information you should need. Who should I consult if I have questions or concerns?
