kinectED: Ask the Expert: Pilates Rehab for the Runner

running2Learn about common running injuries, such as Iliotibial Band syndrome, Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome, Plantar Fasciitis, and Stress Fractures from both a clinical and a first-hand perspective in Ask the Expert: Pilates Rehab for the Runner co-taught by Dr. Mark Klion and Matt McCulloch. Dr. Klion will cover essential running anatomy and injury & rehab programming while Matt will share exercises modified to address and prevent the above injuries, emphasizing release & strengthening techniques. In Matt’s portion of the workshop, participants can expect to learn:

  • how to introduce (or re-train) core stability in runners to prevent repetitive stress injuries
  • runner-specific mat choreography from Kinected’s popular “Runner’s Conditioning” class at Jack Rabbit Sports
  • hands-on release methods on the reformer to target typically tight and overused muscles on runners (IT band, hamstrings, psoas, soleus, gastrocnemius, etc.)
  • choreography to improve patella tracking and prevent Patella Femoral Pain Syndrome
  • exercises that target hip extensor muscles and firing patterns to help balance stride

The workshop will take place on Saturday, 2/16 from 9:30am to 1:30pm – sign up here! And stay tuned to learn more about Dr. Klion’s portion of the workshop…
