kinectED: The Foot: the Foundation of Locomotion Part 1

feetThe Foot: the Foundation of Locomotion Part 1 places the properly aligned foot at the foundation of a well-functioning body. Foot anatomy & function and foot-focused programming are at the core of this essential workshop taught by Kelly Kane. The workshop is the first in a 2-part series: Part 1 takes place May 18th from 1:30 to 5:30 and Part 2 follows on June 15th from 1:30 to 5:30. In Part 1, participants can expect to learn:

  • three-dimensional understanding of bones, muscles and basic biomechanics of the foot
  • definition of toe, foot and ankle actions
  • overview of dysfunctional movements of the foot and strategies for strengthening and   overcoming compensations
  • how to identify suboptimal foot mechanics and integrate healthy and detailed foot mechanics into classic choreography
  • stretches and exercises for the foot utilizing small props and the foot corrector
