14 Jun June exercise of the month: Theraband on-the-go
Last month our masterclass featured exercises with the convenient theraband- an excellent prop for a workout on-the-go! Follow the video below to build upper body strength, and stay tuned for more exercises!
Exercise 1: Standing Row with/ Thera-band
Set up:
Standing in lunge position
Thera-band double wrapped around front foot
Hold thera-band in both hands
Pelvis and spine in neutral
Move:
Inhale: Contract abdominals
Exhale: Flex elbows wide and retract scapula
Inhale: Hold elbows in flexed position
Exhale: Return to neutral
10 repetitions
Modifications:
When flexing elbows keep them close to torso instead of a wide position.
Exercise 2: Chest Expansion w/ Thera-band
Set up:
Standing in lunge position
Thera-band double wrapped around front foot
Hold thera-band in both hands
Pelvis and spine in neutral
Move:
Inhale: Contract abdominals
Exhale: Extend humerus
Inhale: Pulse arms in extension/3 x
Exhale: Return to starting position
Modifications:
Hold the humerus in extension focusing on the isometric contraction for 5 counts
