Pilates for Men Testimonial: Bruce Green

Pilates for Men Testimonial: Bruce Green

In honor of Movember, we’re celebrating men’s health by raising awareness and celebrating the men we love and the men who love Pilates. Long-time kinected client and friend, Bruce Green, shares his journey to Pilates and how it has helped him meet his fitness goals.

I started doing Pilates in the form of a mat class at a “conventional” gym.  The classes were so beneficial in strengthening my core (so much more effective than the standard sit ups and other exercises promoted by trainers)  that I started looking into Pilates-based kettle bell IIstudios.  I have gradually drifted away from the “gym” workout.  I had been doing the standard “male” gym thing – weights, machines, and cardio for many years – bulking up, looking fit but not feeling fit…and instead always tight, inflexible and not strong in places where I needed it for sport. Pilates has increased my strength…developing and “discovering” the myriad of muscles that have long been forgotten. I had been doing the standard “male” gym thing – weights, machines, and cardio for many years – bulking up, looking fit but not feeling fit…and instead always tight, inflexible and not strong in places where I needed it for sport.

joseph_pilates_rolloverSince doing Pilates regularly, my flexibility and body awareness has increased exponentially. Balance has also been improved and is an ongoing goal.  This total body awareness has shown me the importance of balance, flexibility and overall strength and that all of these things are inextricably connected and important for all my athletic endeavors.

Kinected is an incredibly well-equipped studio with a skilled and welcoming staff.  They are tuned into one’s needs for enhancing performance levels in sport activities as well as total fitness.

Stay tuned for more testimonials and don’t miss studio director Matt McCulloch’s upcoming masterclass, The Male Client, which proceeds will go to the Movember Foundation.
November 30th: 1-2:15pm, $25.
