Kristen Barrett

Instructor (virtual only), Teacher Trainer

Fun fact: “I am obsessed with scary movies, especially the classics from the 70s! I own every movie in the Halloween series!”

Kristen Barrett grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona where from the age of six she spent most of her time in the dance studio. Her passion for movement brought her to Arizona State University where she graduated summa cum laude with a BFA in Dance Education and a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication. Soon after graduation Kristen moved to New York City to pursue a career as a professional dancer.

Less than two years into her dance journey Kristen herniated a disc in her lumbar spine. The severe pain in her back and pelvis was so unbearable that she had to stop all physical activity including dancing. She tried every medical treatment and therapy imaginable, but nothing provided long-term relief. Kristen was devastated, worried that she would be in pain forever and never dance again… until she discovered Pilates. Through lots of hard work, patience, and consistency, Pilates eliminated Kristen’s pain and transformed her body making it stronger, healthier, and more resilient than ever before. It was this firsthand experience that inspired her to become a Pilates teacher.

Kristen completed her Core Muscle Anatomy, Comprehensive Pilates Mat, and Pilates Equipment certifications from the Kane School of Core Integration. She also holds a Core Align Level I certification from Balanced Body. Kristen was a part of the Kinected residency program and is now a Kane School Teacher Trainer. She has completed extensive continuing education courses in anatomy and physiology, most notably the four day FAMI workshop at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, as well as the FAMI II workshop on the spine.

Kristen is passionate about helping others heal, grow, and learn through the power of Pilates. It is her mission to help all of her clients achieve healthy, pain free, movement filled lives! Book virtually with her now.
