Joining the Residency Program at Kinected is an incredible next step that I am honored and proud to take for my career as a movement specialist and for myself as a human being committed to movement expression.
I discovered the Kane School at Kinected in 2013, when I was dancing professionally in Musical Theater in NYC and teaching dance as a side gig. I wanted to study and practice a different lineage of movement to compliment my dance training and to apply it to my own classes. When researching many Pilates schools in NYC that offered certifications, what specifically drew me to the Kane School was the beautiful harmony the instructors held of clinical knowledge, traditional principles woven with creative/modern sequencing and an overall energy of genuine care and curiosity about every human body. From my first class there, I knew I wanted to be a part of this incredible community. Cut to today, years later, in the middle of a global pandemic, immense fight against social injustice, change, feelings, and overwhelming desire to move more every day, the community at Kinected has been a sound rooting for my soul.
The connections I have built with fellow colleagues through the program are a true gift. Being able to connect regularly with titans of knowledge and all around amazing humans on staff is one of the greatest silver linings of these past 6 months. Since joining the Residency Program I have been welcomed with open arms, inspired, supported and given the freedom to create. Our skills sessions are deep dives into pathologies, biomechanics, the nervous system and so much more, all in accessible and thought provoking ways.
As a Resident Instructor at Kinected NYC, I strive to absorb all that I can. To inspire and lead physical movement from a heartfelt place and to work with humans who desire a deeper understanding of themselves. I truly believe our physical body is a road map of clues for our emotional souls. Knowing that connection within ourselves creates space for inner healing and guidance. As the amazing Kelly Kane would say, “you have to know the map”! For me, this journey of joining the team at Kinected is an opportunity to explore the map even deeper, to stretch and shine my own knowledge in ways I have yet to even imagine.
