NEW therapeutic pilates at Gibney Dance

gibney-dance-logo_kinectedWe’re thrilled to represent kinected at Gibney Dance with two weekly classes, taught by kinected instructors and teacher trainers Lauren Alzamora and Anna Vollmar. Both of these amazing women are former dancers who found their way into Pilates through pain and injury prevention and wanting a deeper understanding of the mind body connection. Read on to hear more about their stories and sign up for their new class at Gibney Dance!

Anna VollmarAnna: I was teaching dance as well as training and performing, my friends and I became acquainted with an instructor who had trained with Irene Dowd. That work created a lot of change in my personal dancing, strength wise as well as pain and injury prevention. My desire for more anatomical information and integration led me to Kane School. I have found all areas of my life have improved from a stronger mind-body connection, and I love that the work we teach is always adaptable to a body’s ever changing needs.

Lauren Alzamora headshot.jpgLauren: I love teaching because I get to problem solve while making a difference in people’s lives. I feel like I’m constantly learning about new possibilities from my clients- we get to go through a journey of discovery together. We do serious work in a light-hearted way. I view contemporary Pilates as excellent cross-training and injury prevention for almost any movement discipline but especially for dance!
